2001 - IT'S OFFICIAL!! Defending Weiss' Boots and Apparel Legend Cars champ Tim Henry returned, but it was too late! He may have won the 20 lapper this past weekend, and a tangle kept John Menzak to a 10th place finish, but John has clinched his first ever-driving crown at Wall! Congratulations to John, Big John and Ursala!!! I think your fans are very happy!!!

9/15/01 - Johnny is almost there....just a few weeks left. WEISS' BOOTS & APPAREL LEGEND CARS

7/14/2001 -Well, coming off John's first legends win he backed it up with a solid second! He was able to strech his points lead a little on Jensen, Henry, Tomaino! Keep it up John...your fan club is with you!!!

7/7/2001 - JOHN GETS HIS FIRST LEGENDS WIN! WAY TO GO JOHN!!! YOU GUYS DID A GREAT JOB! "John Menzak of Whitehouse Station grabbed his first win of the year in the 20-lapper for the Weiss' Boots & Apparel Legend Cars over early leader Brian Gardella and veteran Ronnie Dunstan." Keep it up, the fan club is growing!! You gotta love those Coors Light girls in victory lane too!!!

6/30/2001 - Okay, Wall has the results there, but points are not updated. I hope to get it to you as soon as I can. Looks like John finished 4th this week. Maybe he'll get em' next week!! I'll get the details for you ASAP!!

6/09/2001 - Well, The points leader per Mike Hart has move to Pocono to run a modified. So what happens now...two straight weeks of rain outs! Back to racing on June 9th and Johnny comes in second! I'm not sure how it happened, but with a win this week he'll be in the points lead! Let's wish him luck!!!

5/19/2001 - Wall updated points! Look at the Legends page to see that Johnny is up to second! Johnny finished 3rd...Tim Henry of Schencksville, Pa. won his fifth on the season in the 20-lapper, Kevin Yeatts was second and John Menzak was third. Looks like John will be the one winning soon enough!! If I get any more info I will update you!

5/12/2001 - Well, I'm sorry everyone. I've been a bit busy and haven't been able to keep you up to date as promised. Here's some of the scoop I've been hearing: Johnny is excited after a good run on the 12th! As Mike Hart said in the guestbook, he led 16 laps, got a shot in the rear going into the 4th turn and went up high. Henry was able to get under him for the lead and Johnny was a clean driver, (unlike when he races go-karts with us I might add), so he didn't return the favor and raced him clean to the checkers. So things are looking good for a victory! Let's all wish him luck!!!

4/14/2001 - Little Johnny is racing the Legends car to the front at Wall Stadium! In the opening night event he moved from 12th to finish 4th! Since he is listed as a rookie there is no handicapping, but if he gets up front to start, look out! He's on a roll and hopes to hit victory lane soon. He's also 4th in the points! We'll keep you posted.

3/2/2001 Big John is working on the Legends car as we speak. I'll be getting a few pictures and will try to get them on the web soon! In the mean time...Legends car at Wall, and we'll see about bringing the modified too!

Well fans...the racing season is almost upon us. Send me some questions and let me know what you'd like to hear!

Here's some late breaking news. Looks like we may be going to race at Wall Speedway...why you ask? Rumor has it JJ has been asked to drive a legends car. That means you can go cheer him on in two divisions! This should be interesting! We may also be running at Pocono Mountain and a few other events around New Jersey and New York. We're also looking to show our car a few times.

YEAR 2000
As always, the car is close right out of the box.....so with that said.....
Pocono Mountain Speedway: Not a great turn out. We went up on Saturday to qualify which was going pretty good. During the qualifying laps Johnny looked like one of the best handling cars we saw. Then the Monkey was back on our back. Johnny slipped on oil or debris or something that we haven't figured out yet, and coming off the 4th turn he scraped the outside fence with the right front. So they used the 1st lap (warm up lap)
as our qualifying time. We started in 18th for the feature and after about 6-8 laps
there was a spin johnny got on the brakes the car came around and stopped. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE. Now he has to get his tail back in gear...unfortunately Johnny says the clutch was fried and we had the wrong low gear in the car. So we our spotter yelled "Go Go Go" on the radio and he comes back and says thats all it has. Clutch is gone...

Oswego: This track has some longer straightaways than we are used to. We may have lacked the horsepower to pull the straights with the competition, but with a good handling set-up we were only 0.5 sec. out of qualifying. Turns out Ted Christopher was a guaranteed starter and he was racing in Mass. that afternoon so the officials at Oswego held up the start of the feature to wait for HIM...oh well. Johnny did well in qualifying, but was caught up a little with the competition. All in all, we learned a few things for next time!! We also managed to pull some fun and a lot of laughs out of the weekend.

We'll be making some changes before next year...but in talking to Big John last week, he says the Turkey Derby at Wall Stadium is a posibility. I believe it is the weekend after Thanksgiving. Stay tuned for updates!

RACING RESULTS August 19, 2000
Well it turned out to be a bad weekend for the 12m car. After being driver of the week at Flemington, we went to practice and had to make a lot of changes. The car was pretty good but had a slight push all the way around. We thought we had it fixed for the heat where John started 6th. He quickly gained a few positions and with the leaders side by side was biding his time. Unfortunately Bruce Cook, (second in points at Flemington) could not do the same. As they went into turn one, Bruce took a straight and low line, and with his right front tire hit John in the left rear tire. John almost had it saved, but the car broke loose. He hit the wall pretty hard with the rear and than it spun again and went head on into the wall. We were done for the night. John is a little banged up but he will be fine. The car on the other and needs a new front clip and some cosmetic damage. The officials said the tape shows he was wheel to wheel with John, but we have our own tape that shows he was not even close. Every fan we spoke with said the same. I think this sums up the season at Flemington. There are people out on the track that do not know how to give and take. We all want to win, but that is uncalled for. It is too bad for the Menzaks. They work hard on that car and this year have not had the luck. This is one of countless incidents where we were caught up by the stupidity of someone else. It is too bad for our team. We will see if we can get back for the end of the year, but it is going to be tough. To all of Johns fans, he would like to say thanks for your support!

RACING RESULTS August 12, 2000
Hello 12m race fans! Here's what happened on August 12th. WE WERE RAINED OUT! Let's hope for some good weather on the 19th! We're ready to win again!

RACING RESULTS August 5, 2000
Hello 12m race fans! Here's what happened on August 5th.

John finished in fifth! It was nice to get a top five finish but it wasn't easy. We were a little short handed in the pits, so they worked like crazy to get the car comfortable. The car was both pushing and loose. After going out in warm-ups they decided to make some critical changes. They were able to get the car pretty close but still couldn't quite get enough bite to get the car off the fourth turn. We started in second in our heat, but running the outside line against some tough cars shuffled him back to fifth. That's where he finished right on the bumper of Steve Whitt. In the feature, John started in 13th position and by lap twelve was in fourth, but on the restart he was held back and to the outside because of the slow re-start of the car in front of him, which in turn let Kenny Brenn sneak past him. Johnny gave it a good shot battling with Kenny for about 5 or 6 laps, one time just about having him, but he just couldn't get the car to stick. He settled back no further than a few feet and tried his hardest to get under him but just didn't have enough. We ended up fifth behind Brenn, but were able to finish better than Steve Whitt who finished 6th. Thanks for your support fans!!!

BRITTAIN WINS MODIFIEDS

FLEMINGTON, NJ: Pete Brittain of Farmingdale grabbed the lead from Jimmy Weiss of Manalapan on lap 12 and held off the late charges of Marc Rogers of Brick and Jim Willis of Fair Haven to win the 30-lap NASCAR Modified feature on Federal Plastics night at Flemington Speedway.

Brittains third win of the season came thanks to a restart on lap 12 and he was able to hold the lead despite cautions on laps 12 and 29. Pole sitter Ed Gilligan had held the lead for the initial three laps before Weiss passed him.

Ken Brenn Jr. of Middlesex finished fourth and John Menzak III of Phillipsburg fifth. Weiss, Gilligan and Rogers won the heat races.

RACING RESULTS July 29, 2000

Hello 12m Fans! Well, the 29th wasn't a bad day. We left the track with a straight race car. We started the practice out well, although Johnny had a loose race car. We keep telling him "loose is fast!" After a few adjustments he returned to the track to have a left rear tire go down, and then a right front tire go down. That limited our practice a bit, but they were able to get the car dialed in pretty well.

In the heat race, Johnny finished a close second, but was still loose. The team went to work and tried to adjust to the track for the Modified Feature.

In the feature Johnny went to work. The only problem was the car wasn't sticking to the track the way he wanted. He started in 7th, and soon moved his way to fourth after a few cautions. Unfortunately Pete Brittian got around him because of a slow car and for the remaineder of the race he seemed to hold Johnny up. Johnny said, "the car wasn't sticking to the track well enough to get off the corners." So he wasn't able to get a good run on Brittain. He tried an outside pass with a few laps to go, but was pushed up the track and lost a position to finish 6th. Not bad for the second week back.

Of course since I haven't updated the page in a few weeks, you didn't know that on July 29, Johnny had one of the cars to beat. He started way back in 27th for the Penn-Jersey 50 lap Modified feature and worked his way to 12th in about 10 laps before getting collected by someone because they had let off their brakes and rolled right back into Johnny while he was slowly trying to sneak around the outside. It took off our left front suspension. We were done for the night.

RACING RESULTS July 29, 2000
WHITT WINS MODIFIEDS
FLEMINGTON, NJ: Steve Whitt of Farmingdale grabbed the lead on a lap three restart and led the rest of the way in winning the 30-lap NASCAR Modified feature Saturday at Flemington Speedway.

Whitt, in winning his second feature this season, had to hold off the strong runs of both Marc Rogers of Brick and Jim Willis of Fair Haven to maintain his lead in the divisionl point standings on Dick Greenfield Dodge night.

"The more laps the car runs under green, the better it is," said Whitt. "The number 11 car is still struggling. I won't be happy until it runs the way it did last year."

Whitt gained the lead after pole sitter Don Wagner of Dover went out in turn two for the race's first caution. There were three more cautions, but Whitt maintained the lead, although Rogers was on his back bumper for a number of laps. "My car was tight going into the turns, but was much faster down the straightaway," said Rogers. "Steve's car was better in the end."

Pete Brittain of Farmingdale, returning from a one-week suspension, finished fourth and Tom Farrell of Shrewsbury fifth. Whitt also won his heat race, along with Shaun Carrig of Little Falls and Wagner.

How the NASCAR Modifieds finished:
Heat 1: Steve Whitt, Jim Willis, Ken Brenn Jr., Bruce Cook Jr., Bobby Geiger, Joe Torchia Jr., Tom Ervin, Jimmy Blewett.

Heat 2: Shaun Carrig, Marc Rogers, Pete Brittain, Ed Gilligan, Rich Ely, Chris Dewalt, Jimmy Weiss.

Heat 3: Don Wagner, John Menzak III, Mike Carr, Bruce Cook Jr., Tom Farrell, Joe Nagle, Brad Creighton.

MENZAK WINS FLEMINGTON FEATURE

FLEMINGTON, NJ: John Menzak III of Phillipsburg won the 30-lap NASCAR Modified feature Saturday night at Flemington Speedway, gaining his first win in two years at the famed square oval.

Menzak had to hold on for the last half of the race, beating back the hard charging John Blewett III of Howell for the win. Blewett was on his back bumper for much of the race on Shammy Shine night.

Doug Wolcott , also of Howell, finished third while the number 06 car of Bruce Cook Jr. of Point Pleasant Beach came across the finish line fourth. Rounding out the top five was the 62 car of Jim Willis of Fair Haven.

"I worked hard for this win," said Menzak. "I've been in enough wrecks to last a lifetime, and I'll take a win anywhere I can get it."

Menzak started on the pole in the 30-lapper and never trailed, despite five cautions and numerous spinouts. Even Blewett knew Menzak's car was the one to beat.

"He was fast tonight," said Blewett. "He races well every week, but a lot of times he doesn't finish. As for my car, there were too many adjustments to make and the car was too tight."

Menzak also won his heat race, as did Ed Gilligan of Califon and Wolcott.

Saturday June 3, 2000: We had some bad luck tonight. After starting in 6th place Johhny dropped back a few positions. Mostly because he was caught on the outside for a lap or so. He quickly realized he had a really fast car and in just a few laps began to make his way to the front. Just as he was fighting for the lead he had a car cut down on him and when he did he broke the steering rack. The car turned left and into the inside turn one wall he went. It was unfortunate because he knows he had the car that no one could beat. He will be back in a few weeks to take care of business.
